Alex Rivera

Alex Rivera is Head of AI Music Engineering at RadioPro, where he works on applying machine learning to music production and curation. He has more than 12 years of experience at the intersection of music and machine learning.

He studied computer science with a focus on artificial intelligence, then specialised in music technology and how AI applies to composition, production and analysis. His academic work centred on algorithms that generate music autonomously.

He began his career at a startup building music recommendation systems, where he developed algorithms that predicted user preferences. He then moved to a technology company as Senior Music AI Researcher, working on AI composition tools and sound engineering software.

Before RadioPro he was Director of AI Research at a multinational entertainment company, leading a team that personalised music content at scale across several platforms.

At RadioPro he oversees the AI that affects every part of the company's music offering. He works with the music curation and sound design teams so that these tools support the people making the music rather than replacing them.

His team refines and extends the machine learning models that analyse listener data, optimise playlists and shape listening experiences. He also leads work on dynamic content adaptation and real-time music mixing.

He treats AI as a tool that works best when it is used carefully and transparently, and he holds that technology should support human creative judgement rather than compete with it.
