Rachel Cohen
Rachel Cohen leads music selection across RadioPro's channels.
Rachel Cohen is Head of Music Curation at RadioPro. She has more than 15 years in the music industry, spanning editorial, programming and consultancy work.
She grew up in a household where a wide range of music was played, and studied music theory and digital music production, with an interest in how music shapes culture that carried into her work.
She started as a radio intern and moved up through programming because of her ear for new music and her ability to read where a station was heading.
Before RadioPro she was Music Director at a radio station, responsible for playlist curation and audience engagement, a period in which listener numbers grew. She then worked as a consultant for digital music services, helping platforms adjust their recommendation algorithms so they served a wider range of tastes.
At RadioPro she sets the selection strategy across the company's channels and works with other department heads so that programming fits the company's wider goals.
She holds that the music a listener meets should be worth their attention, and she aims to give room both to artists establishing themselves and to those already established. Programming at RadioPro is meant to entertain and to introduce people to something they did not know they wanted.
